About Comerford Foley

We are a progressive growing Accountancy Firm operating in Waterford County. We are a two partner firm with many years' experience advising clients in all business sectors. The partners, Colin Comerford and Ger Foley, came together to form the business in 2011 with a view to providing a different type of accountancy practice that would deliver a first-class service to our clients and put the smooth running of their business at the forefront of everything we do. Both partners worked for several years in a Big 4 firm.

Our Clients

Our client base is varied and we work with farmers, retailers, doctors, mechanics, pharmacists, small growing companies and multinational companies. Our clients are based throughout Ireland and the UK. We strive to fully understand our clients businesses and in that way we can work together to find practical solutions to business issues. Many clients have been with us from the start and it has been exciting to watch their businesses grow and prosper despite challenging economic conditions. Our clients are working hard to develop and grow and are striving to prosper in their business sector.

Ger Foley

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ger has been a practising Chartered Accountant for 15 years, spending the first 12 years of his career gaining valuable experience as an Audit Senior Manager in EY, whom he qualified with after studying at Waterford Institute of Technology. Ger has also gained considerable experience in business planning and advisory including business start-ups and restructuring. He has worked with major international clients as well as local SME's, sole traders and partnerships. In 2011 Ger formed Comerford Foley with Colin Comerford. He prides himself on delivering a personal professional service. Ger is originally from Tramore where he resides with his wife and two young sons. He enjoys all sport and regularly runs and cycles.

Colin Comerford

Colin has over 15 years of experience in taxation and financial services. He has previously worked in in a "Big 4" tax department for 8 years before becoming a self-employed tax consultant and financial advisor in 2006. His client base includes sole-traders, partnerships, small companies and tax work for large multinational corporates as well as private clients. In 2001 he formed Comerford Foley with Ger Foley. He is a Registered Tax consultant as a member of the Irish Taxation Institute and a Qualified Financial Advisor. Colin is originally from Kilkenny but now resides in Dunhill with is wife and young family. He is a GAA fan and also is a keen runner.

Jane Brick

A Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Jane has been a practising Chartered Accountant for 8 years. She has worked for several years as an Audit Assistant Manager in EY. Jane has gained considerable experience in Audit and Assurance as well as general accounting and maintaining books and records. She has worked on a range of client types from major international multi-national clients to local SME's, sole traders, farmers and partnerships. Jane joined Comerford Foley in 2014. Jane is originally from Dunmore and currently resides in Waterford with her husband. She enjoys running and cycling.

Darragh McCormack

A member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Darragh has been a practising accountant for 15 years. He has gained considerable experience in audit and assurance as well as general accounting and business advisory services. Darragh is also a Member of the Institute of Taxation of Ireland, and prior to joining the firm he was Tax Manager for a medium sized accountancy practice based in Waterford. Darragh is originally from Athlone and currently resides in Waterford with his wife and young family. He is a keen rugby supporter and also enjoys running.

Aedín Eachthigherin

Aedin joined Comerford Foley in January 2015 and her work includes accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships, farmers and audit exempt companies, together with tax & VAT returns. She is proficient in the operation of both Xero and SAGE accounting packages. As a qualified Accounting Technician and Tax Technician, Aedin has over 25 years experience, having trained with a small practice and then working in industry for 5 years before taking up employment with Ernst & Young. There she managed their Small Accounts section for over 16 years. Originally from Newrath, she now resides in Ballyduff with her husband and four children and in her spare time she enjoys coaching the local under 10 girls Gaelic Football.

Ludmila Zaharia

As Tax and Accounts Assistant, Ludmila is responsible for the preparation of VAT returns and providing payroll services, as well as the preparation of both income and corporation tax returns. She joined us in 2015, after obtaining a degree in Accountancy and Audit in her home country of Moldova. She has progressed through the ACCA professional accounting exams and, motivated to become a professional tax consultant, her goal is to complete the Irish Tax Institute professional tax exams. In her free time she enjoys walking, gardening and socialising with family and friends.

Ewelina Cooke

Ewelina is a trainee Chartered Accountant in Comerford Foley. She grew up in Poland and moved to Ireland when she was 20 years old, working in retail for several years after initially working as an au pair. She has 10 years' experience in retail sales and various types of administration within a retail setting. Ewelina has completed both her Bachelor of Business and Higher Certificate in Business Studies from Waterford Institute of Technology. Joining us in May 2016 as a Trainee Accountant, Ewelina aims to become a fully qualified accountant. She is ambitious by nature and keen to get on top of her profession. Her interests include running, baking and getting her hands dirty in the garden and also spending her time with family and friends.

Catherine Sheehan

Catherine joined Comerford Foley in August 2018 and her work includes management accounts and year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and audit exempt companies, together with tax & VAT returns and also sourcing of asset finance for clients. She has achieved a Degree in Management Accounting and is also a qualified Accounting Technician and Payroll Technician. 

Catherine has over 14 years’ experience, having trained with a small practice in Kilkenny and then working in industry for 11  years in both family owned and multi-national businesses. Originally from Paulstown in Kilkenny she now resides in Dunmore East with her husband and two children and in her spare time she enjoys walking and volunteering for her local hurling club as Treasurer.  

Deirdre Foley

Dee joined Comerford Foley in February 2018 & brings with her a Bachelor Degree in Business & Marketing from Waterford Institute of Technology.  Dee is an experienced Sales & Operations manager with a demonstrated history of working within the food & beverages industry.  Dee has also worked as part of the Human Resources team as a HR Generalist & Island of Ireland Recruitment Manager while working with a large Multinational Organisation. 

As part of her role as Office Manager, Dee manages client queries, workflow process & office administration.  She is most likely to be the person you speak to first when you get in contact with us!   In her spare time, Dee likes to spend time in the gym and enjoying the fabulous Tramore coast line with her family & friends.
